PM Modi Pays Tributes to Martyrs in Eastern Ladakh, Says India is Proud of Their Valor

Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave his first remarks on the Indo-China border clash in the Eastern Ladakh on Monday evening. On Wednesday, he said that India wants peace but can give a befitting reply if provoked. His statement not only reassured the people of the nation that the government is taking steps to safeguard India’s sovereignty but also gave a stern message to Beijing.

During the second part of his COVID-19 related meeting with CMs, he started by referring the border clash between soldiers of the Indian and Chinese army in Galwan Valley that claimed 20 Indian lives. He said that India has always promoted peace among countries. He further highlighted his government’s stand on the clash and the determination not to let anyone prevent India from retaliation if India’s sovereignty is targeted.

Reiterating a principle that India & China pledged themselves to during the bilateral meetings, PM Modi said that India’s consistent effort is that differences shouldn’t become disputes.

PM Modi talked about the extraordinary valor that our Indian soldiers displayed and said-

“The country will be proud to know that they died after they killed their adversaries (Desh ko Is baat par garv hoga ki vae maarte, maarte, maren hai).”

He further said-

“I would like to assure the nation that the sacrifice of our jawans will not be in vain. For us, India’s unity and sovereignty is the most important and no one can stop us from protecting it. No one should have a doubt on this point. India wants peace but is capable of a befitting reply in every circumstance.”

During the border clash, Colonel Santosh Babu & his men killed or critically injured more than 40 Chinese soldiers, including a Commander of the People’s Liberation Army.

Watch it here:

“Tributes to the martyrs who lost their lives protecting our nation in Eastern Ladakh. Their supreme sacrifice will never be forgotten.

India is proud of the valour of our armed forces. They have always shown remarkable courage and steadfastly protected India’s sovereignty.”

Earlier, the PM tweeted about his second meeting with the CMs regarding the situation due to COVID-19 post-Unlock 1.0. The first part of this meeting was held on Tuesday.

“During today’s meeting with CMs, we had wide ranging deliberations on the COVID-19 pandemic. Our focus areas are prevention of the infection, curing of patients and at the same time boosting economic activity.”
