Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Tuesday, held an interaction with all states’ Chief Ministers through a video-conference. They discussed the situation arising post-Unlock 1.0 and also the plan ahead to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic. It was the PM’s sixth COVID-19 related interaction with the Chief Ministers since the Coronavirus outbreak.
Moreover, PM Modi said that the government made timely decisions to fight the pandemic, which is effective in virus’ containment. He added that people of the world would recall it as an example of cooperative federalism.
He further said that the government is making efforts to save each life. The PM highlighted that as all modes of transport are now open, lakhs of migrant laborers went back to their villages & thousands of Indians returned from abroad.
He added that the healthcare experts globally are applauding Indians’ discipline as recovery rate is 50%, with the least deaths. He said that people should continue taking preventive measures & warned that any carelessness would weaken our battle against the virus.
Also, he mentioned that the government’s past few weeks’ efforts have made green shoots of the country’s economy visible. Under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, he said that provisions are made for agriculture, horticulture, fisheries & MSMEs. He stressed on the need to work unitedly, ensuring that the announcements made under Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan are realized at the earliest.
Yesterday’s interaction was the first part of the 2-day interaction with the CMs & witnessed the participation of various states & UTs. The CMs thanked the PM for his leadership during these tough times & offered feedback on the existing health infrastructure in their states and efforts to monitor the virus impact. They mentioned the awareness campaigns, help to workers who returned home, usage of the Aarogya Setu app, and restarting economic activities in the states.
Furthermore, he underlined the significance of keeping a focus on both life and livelihood. He added that health infrastructure needs a boost, emphasizing testing & tracing to increase economic activity. The decisions need to be made, keeping in mind both ongoing and future needs.
Besides, the PM asked the Ministry to make sure that appropriate preparations are made to ahead of the monsoon season.
