PM Modi Seeks Suggestions and Ideas for Union Budget 2020-21

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked the people of the nation and invited ideas and suggestions ahead of the upcoming Union Budget 2020-21. So, PM Modi made an effort to engage the citizens directly on their demands and aspirations.

In his tweet on the official handle, the PM said that this year’s budget represents the aspirations of 130 crore Indians and paves a path for the development of India. Urging everyone to share ideas and suggestion of the general budget 2019-20 on MyGov.in, he quoted a tweet by My Gov India and wrote-

“The Union Budget represents the aspirations of 130 crore Indians and lays out the path towards India’s development.

I invite you all to share your ideas and suggestions for this year’s Budget on MyGov.”

Earlier on Sunday, the official handle of My Gov India, the citizen engagement platform of Government of India, posted a tweet and wrote-

“.@FinMinIndia looks forward to your suggestions for the #UnionBudget2020 which will be presented in the Parliament in the upcoming session.Share your valuable ideas in the field of #Farmers, #Education & others. https://mygov.in/group-issue/inviting-ideas-and-suggestions-union-budget-2020-2021/

Also, the Finance Ministry requested the citizens of the country to share valuable ideas, specifically in the field of agriculture and education, for the upcoming budget, which is to be expected to be declared on 1 February 2020.

The Finance Minister of India, Nirmala Sitharaman, has already held pre-budget consultations with the representatives from various sectors like health, education, banking, infrastructure, energy, rural development, agriculture, and the leading economists and industry bodies.

Moreover, the government might announce tax concessions for individuals and increase spending on infrastructure after it lowered corporate tax rates the previous year. Last week, FinMin announced a plan to invest Rs. 102 lac crore in infrastructure in the coming five years to make India a 5 trillion dollar economy by 2025.

In a statement, the Statistics Ministry said that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is predicted to grow 5% in 2019-20.
