PM Encouraged Citizens to Head to the Polling Booths & Vote in Phase II

Same as the day when the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2019 began, Prime Minister Narendra Modi again took to his Twitter handle and called upon voters for the second phase voting.

As Lok Sabha elections are being held in seven phases for 543 seats on several dates such as April 11, April 18, April 23, April 29, May 6, May 12 and May 19, today marks the beginning of the second phase. The counting of these voting rounds will be held on May 23.

PM Modi tweeted early morning and encouraged more people to come out and vote in large numbers.

He wrote,

“Dear Citizens of India,

Phase 2 of the Lok Sabha polls start today. I am sure all those whose seats are polling today will strengthen our democracy by exercising their franchise.

I hope more youngsters head to the polling booths and vote!”

Not only in tweets but during recent election rallies also PM Modi had focussed on asking young people to support forming a stable government and not one run by what he called “mahamilavat,” pointing to the opposition’s grand alliance.

Before elections also, PM Modi went on a tweet spree by using #VoteKar to motivate people to engage in the Lok Sabha Elections 2019.

Even under the shadow of multiple raids involving what the authorities say is a cash-for-votes scam in Tamil Nadu, the second phase of the gigantic Lok Sabha elections 2019 began.

Polling in the Vellore seat has been canceled following huge cash haul by Income Tax officials. Elections for 18 assemblies and 38 Lok Sabha seats of the state are being held.

Eleven states like Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Odisha, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Manipur and Jammu, and Kashmir and a union territory Puducherry are going to poll for the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections for 95 constituencies today.

However, today’s polling was scheduled to be held in 97 seats, but polling in Tripura East constituencies and Vellore (Tamil Nadu) was canceled by the Election Commission of India.

Around 15.8 crore voters are eligible to vote in the Phase 2 of the Lok Sabha Polls, and these voters will decide the fortunes of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda as well as four union ministers.

In the third phase, voting will be held in 115 constituencies. In the fourth phase, the count is 71, in the fifth phase is 51, in the sixth phase number is 59 while in the seventh phase 59 seats will participate.
