PM Modi Congratulates Asiad 2018 Medal Winners

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday congratulated winners of Asian Games 2018 held in Jakarta and Palembang of Indonesia. He encouraged the athletes and asked them to work harder in the Olympic Games.

India bagged 69 medals in the Asian Games 2018 beating the previous record of 65 medals won in Guangzhou Asiad 2010. PM Modi interacted with the athletes at his residence and complimented them for their exemplary performance. The commendable performance is a matter of glory for the nation.

The statement of PMO states, “The PM expressed hope that the medal winners will remain grounded and would not lose focus due to fame and accolades.”

PM Modi urged the sportspersons not to rest on the laurels achieved and asked them to strive harder for greater glory. He said that the biggest challenge for the medal winners will start now and they should never lose their goal of being in the Olympic Games podium.”

PM Modi expressed joy over the budding talent of the small towns, villages and that the poor background is reaching new heights on a grand level.

There is real potential in the rural areas and we should continue nurturing those talents. The outside world is unaware of the day-to-day struggles a sportsperson has to go through,” he said.

The Prime Minister asked the athletes to take the assistance of the technology as the way to improve their performance.

He saluted their grit and dedication to their disciplines and hoped that the rest of the country would get inspired from their efforts,” the release stated.

Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore said that the nation has improved the medal haul in recent times. Prime Minister’s vision and government initiatives had a significant role in the increased medal tally.
