PM Modi Announces Setting Up of Panel on ‘One Nation, One Election’

New Delhi: On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that a committee would be formed to study the diverse aspects of conducting Lok Sabha elections as well as all the State Assembly elections once in every five years. This was as a result of the apprehensions expressed at an all-party meeting called for the purpose. The panel will need to provide suggestions in a certain timeframe.

In the ‘One Nation, One Election’ meeting called by the government, the heads of the 21 political parties were in attendance. However, 12 major opposition parties did not attend it. Congress President Rahul Gandhi mentioned some earlier commitments, while BSP Chief Mayawati cited she would have come if the EVMs’ agenda was discussed.

Also, the representatives of SP (Samajwadi Party), DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam), AAP (Aam Aadmi Party), TMC (Trinamool Congress), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Janata Dal (JD – Secular), AIUDF (All India United Democratic Front), TDP (Telugu Desam Party), JMM (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha), and IUML (Indian Union Muslim League) were also not present in the meeting. The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) had sent Tamil Nadu Law Minister CV Shanmughan, but he was informed that only party heads could attend it. Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray also could not attend the meet since he was busy with his party’s foundation day celebrations.

PM Modi Announces Setting Up of Panel on ‘One Nation, One Election’

The heads who attended included BJD (Biju Janata Dal) Chief Naveen Patnaik who was in support of simultaneous polls. And YSRCP (Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party) Chief Jaganmohan Reddy asked for his concerns to be addressed before the idea gets implemented. The NCP (Nationalist Congress Party) raised questions on the feasibility of the idea and possibility of frequent central rule in states. The Communist Party of India (CPM and CPI) leaders expressed disagreement on the proposal. The opposition parties said that simultaneous elections might result in ‘encroachment’ on federal rights because dissolving assemblies before the tenure ends is ‘anti-democratic’ and President’s rule of enforcing syncing of polls is not fair.

A government source stated-

“Several parties were of the view that all aspects of the proposal need to be examined carefully. Shri Modi noted that this is not the agenda of one party, but an issue of national importance and views of all parties would be considered and given due importance.”

PM Modi declared that a panel would soon be formed for examining the issue and submitting a report.

Patnaik held the same opinion as that of PM Modi, saying that frequent elections would influence the development pace and shake the cooperative federalism’s spirit. He added-

“BJD will fully support the idea of one nation, one election. There has to be a ‘give and take’ attitude in the larger interest of the country.”

Moreover, Patnaik had dissolved the Odisha Assembly about a year before the schedule in 2004 for synchronization of the state elections with the Lok Sabha polls. So, the state has been holding simultaneous polls since then. Patnaik also proposed that the commitment to “Ahimsa (non-violence) be enshrined in the Constitution’s preamble.”

All the parties agreed to celebrate Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary and improve the productivity of Parliament, among the other issues on the agenda.

A few of the opposition heads insisted that when the development of the 115 backward districts is being discussed, the concerned state governments must be actively involved to achieve effective outcomes. PM Modi supported the view, saying that all the state governments must maintain coordination with the Centre to put the most backward districts on the best level.

PM in Kerala I Am Here to Seek Your Blessings for More Development

PM in Kerala: I Am Here to Seek Your Blessings for More Development

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the crowd in Thiruvananthapuram Kerala on Thursday while the second phase of Lok Sabha elections 2019 was going on.

While addressing there on Thursday, PM Modi hit out at Congress President Rahul Gandhi. PM said that Rahul Gandhi is not contesting from Wayanad district Lok Sabha constituency to convey a message to the South, but he is doing so for “appeasement politics.”

PM Modi stated,

“Congress’ Naamdaar says he is contesting from Wayanad because he wanted to send a message to South. Couldn’t you contest from Trivandrum to give the message? It’s the capital. It’s not a message to South but a message of appeasement politics.”

Later Mr. Modi attacked Congress President of pretending to be against the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Kerala, still quietly befriending the party in Delhi. The PM claimed opposition leader Gandhi is doing so only to secure his seat in Parliament.

He added,

“Congress president had to come to Wayanad here to secure his place in Parliament. He says he won’t speak a word against CPI(M). Kerala main kushti aur Delhi main dosti, yahi inka khel hai.”

He continued saying,

“The faith and affection towards the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and me has only increased over time. Today I am here to seek your blessings so that we continue to convert your faith and affection to record development. This is why, I urge all the eligible voters in Kerala to turn out and exercise their franchise in support of the BJP during these elections and strengthen our resolve to bring rapid development in Kerala.”

Further, he added,

“These elections will determine if India will make rules or just follow them. So there is a huge responsibility on the shoulders of voters of Kerala, especially first-time voters.”

Later PM Modi claimed that Rahul Gandhi chose his nomination in Wayanad as a second seat beside Amethi, his traditional constituency in Uttar Pradesh, saying it was a message to the southern states that they are deeply respected and valued.

In the speech, he also took a jibe on rivals, the UDF and the ruling LDF, for their ineffective policies and rampant corruption. PM Modi said,

“Only the BJP can ensure social justice for every group in Kerala. Everybody has seen how the UDF and LDF are threatening the traditions and religious practices of the people here while they indulge in corruption, bribery and other illegal activities. Can anyone forgive the Congress for the humiliation and suffering it gave to Mr. Nambi Narayan, whose entire career was destroyed by the false allegations of the Congress. This is the true face of these parties, they are not people-centric, they are ‘family-centric’ instead.”

Pathanamthitta and Thiruvananthapuram district, where the Sabarimala Lord Ayyappa temple is established, is beholding an intense triangular contest between opposition Congress-led UDF, the ruling CPI(M) headed LDF and BJP-NDA candidate.

PM Modi Addresses Rallies at Korba and Bhatapara, Chhattisgarh

PM Modi Addresses Rallies at Korba and Bhatapara, Chhattisgarh

Ahead of two days for second phase Lok Sabha election in Chhattisgarh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a poll rally there in Korba and Bhatapara.

A state BJP spokesperson said,

“The PM will first address a public meeting in Korba district headquarter at around 11 am and the next one in Bhatapara town of Balodabazar-Bhatapara district at around 1:30 pm.”

Korba rally was also attended by BJP candidates Jyotinand Dubey from Korba Lok Sabha constituency, Gomtee Sai from Raigarh (ST) constituency, and Renuka Singh from Surguja (ST) seat. And, BJP’s Raipur nominee Sunil Soni, Janjgir-Champa (SC) contestant Guharam Ajgale and Bilaspur candidate Arun Sao attended the Bhatapara rally.

While addressing the crowd, PM Modi said that the strength of “one vote” had enabled the air strike as well as the surgical strike in Pakistan. He said this when already opposition parties claimed that PM is “misusing” the armed forces for electoral gain.

Last week, the Election Commission sought a report from poll officials after Modi’s rally in Latur Maharashtra, where he requested first-time voters to dedicate their vote to those who carried out the air strike at POK.

PM Modi Addresses Rallies at Korba and Bhatapara, Chhattisgarh

As last month EC advisory issued a proforma, asking parties to desist from indulging in political propaganda involving actions of the armed forces, in that context, this issue report was sought.

Later, he again pointed out that today’s India carries out air and surgical strikes across the border and also shoots down a satellite in space but, this became possible by the “one vote” of the people.

Further, in the discussion, PM Modi took a jibe at Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi and said that it was the mindset of the “sultanate” of the ‘Naamdar‘ to abuse the deprived and treat them as slaves.

And, this point of Modi came a day after Gandhi made the “how come all Modis are thieves” statement.

Addressing a rally in Maharashtra on Monday, Gandhi had said,

“I have a question. Why all the thieves have Modi in their names whether be it Nirav Modi, Lalit Modi and Narendra Modi? We don’t know how many more such Modis will come out.”

In response to that, PM Modi accused Gandhi’s comment as frustration amongst the Congress and its “Mahamilvati” collaborators made by the “BJP wave” being witnessed across the country.

PM Modi said,

“The Congress and its Mahamilavati allies are unable to sleep during night. Now they are abusing me in frustration, are insulting me. The voters of India are seeing this”

He added,

“These people are crossing limits daily. According to them, anyone whose name is Modi is a thief. What kind of politics is this? They have labeled a whole community as thieves only to get some applause, just to insult your ‘chowkidar’.”

He continued saying,

“It is naamdar’s sultanate mindset which sneers at the exploited, deprived and treats them as slaves.”

Later PM Modi said that the Congress party labeled honest tax-payers as selfish. He added that the naamdars are itself backed with numerous cases of income tax theft of crores of rupees.

Without mentioning the National Herald case, Modi said,

“They are having fun after committing scam following land allotment to bring out a newspaper…they are out on bail.”

Further, in a veiled reference to the Bofors scam in which late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s name was dragged by the opposition, PM said,

“They seek commission in deals relating to national security.”

Total seven seats will go to polls in the second phase on April 18 such as Raipur, Korba, Janjgir-Champa, Surguja, Bilaspur, Raigarh, and Durg.

PM Modi Had an Interview with National Broadcaster Doordarshan

PM Modi Had an Interview with National Broadcaster Doordarshan

On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had an interview with national broadcaster Doordarshan.

There while speaking, PM Modi refuted opposition’s criticism that PM Modi was using the defense forces in his campaign speeches for influencing voters. PM said that the nationalism and sacrifice of soldiers both the issues are as much an important as the death of farmers. He asked then why it can not be an issue of the election.

He said,

“In a country where thousands of its soldiers have been martyred, shouldn’t that be an election issue? If farmers die, then it is an election issue, but when soldiers die then it is not an election issue? How can that be?”

He added,

“If we don’t tell them what our views are on this, then what is the logic in that? …Can any country move ahead without the feeling of nationalism?”

As from last few times in his rallies, PM Modi mentioned about Pulwama attack and fought for the BJP and asked first-time voters to “dedicate their votes” to the Indian Air Force pilots.

And he also mentioned the security personnel killed in the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama in February and also requested to vote.

For these kinds of statements regarding terror attack, opposition parties accused the Prime Minister that he is using the defense forces for influencing citizens.

For this claim, the election commission took this work to sort out the matter. Well, this issue is still in under examination. Also, the poll authorities in Maharashtra’s Latur have told the Election Commission that the comments seemingly violate its orders and asked parties against using the armed forces in their campaigns.

Also, PM Modi took a jibe at Congress President Rahul Gandhi, claiming that he was mentioning the Rafale issue to “wash the sins of his father,” Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, who handled investigations for the Bofors scandal.

Later Prime Minister said,

“He has made the Rafale issue to wash the sins of his father. For the past six months, he has been making it an issue without any proof. ”

After that, PM Modi stated that his government addressed the basic requirements of the people that in the past five years that should have been fulfilled within the first 10 to 20 years of independence, but unfortunately did not happen.

He said that his comments against the Gandhi family are not at all personal but only against dynastic politics.

He later explained that,

“Dynastic politics is the most dangerous thing for democracy.”

Further, PM Modi commented on the Congress’s minimum income promise Nyuntam Aay Yojana or NYAY and said that the opposition party (Congress) has accepted that they have done “great injustice” to the people for the past 60 years with the announcement of the scheme.

Then PM Modi referred to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and asked,

“Will they give Nyay (justice)?”

Further, PM Modi claimed that there is an “unprecedented wave of support” for his party talking about BJP’s chances in the ongoing elections.

PM Modi declared,

“I have not seen this even in 2014.”

After the Indian Air Force fighter planes hit a Jaish-e-Mohammed terror camp across the Line of Control in Balakot, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Cabinet Committee on Security headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi holds a meet.

Twelve days after the Pulwama terror attack which left 40 CRPF jawans dead, the strike on terror camp comes. This all occurred on 14 February when a Jaish terrorist rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into a CRPF convoy on Jammu-Srinagar highway.

According to some sources, at around 3.30am the IAF fighters used Mirage-2000 jets with laser-guided bombs weighing 1,000 pounds.

The meeting was held at the Prime Minister’s residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi.
It was the second CCS meeting in less than two weeks which was attended by Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, and other Senior Officials. The first one was a day after the Pulwama attack, February 15.

The Prime Minister had declared after the first meeting that the security forces are given a “free hand” to deal with the Jammu and Kashmir terrorism attacks.

Hours after the conference held at PM House, Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale gave out the details of the audacious operation executed by the IAF.

In the press conference, he confirmed the daring strikes by IAF on Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) hideout terror camps in Balakot, as Balakot is believed to be the biggest JeM hideout in Pakistan.

Mr. Gokhale said,

“In an intelligence-led operation, India struck the biggest Jaish facility in Balakot on early hours of Tuesday, in which top leaders have been eliminated. India calls it non-military pre-preemptive action to counter multiple potential fidayeen attacks.

In this operation, a very large number of JeM terrorists, trainers, senior commander, and Jihadis were eliminated.”

Many of the political people took to social media and posted regarding Air Strike Today.

PM Modi Addresses First Rally in Raebareli, Gandhi’s Traditional Seat

PM Modi Addresses First Rally in Raebareli, Gandhi’s Traditional Seat

PM Modi was in Raebareli yesterday. It was his first trip to the traditional seat of the Gandhi family. There he attacked Congress over the Supreme Court’s Rafale verdict, the AgustaWestland deal, and the Bofors deal.

While addressing his first public meeting in the constituency, PM Modi said,

“I want to know from the Congress — is it agitated today and telling lie after lie because the BJP government’s defense deals do not have any Quattrocchi “mama,” Christian Michel uncle?”

An Italian national, Quattrochi, was an apparent middleman in the Bofors deal made by the government headed by former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi who was also Rahul Gandhi’s father.

Further, he said,

“Their actions, their conspiracies are proving it again and again that they (Congress) consider themselves above country, democracy, judiciary, and the public. 2 days ago, we saw another example of it (Rafale). Stay alert and safe from such people & parties.”

Meanwhile, he alleged that the Congress party destroyed every agency that didn’t work according to them.

Blaming of doing nothing during the tenure of Congress, Modi said,

“Why did the Congress not implement the Swaminathan Committee report despite being in power for 10 years? This factory (Modern Coach Factory) was approved in 2007. The aim was to make 1,000 new coaches. The factory was ready. But for 4 years, these coaches were taken for painting. The factory was never allowed to function.” Also, he accused the Congress of lying and spreading a hoax about loan waiver.

He said,

“Prayagraj is a place which can also be called ‘the temple of justice’ in Uttar Pradesh. In recent times, the game of building pressure on the judiciary has started. In such a situation, it’s essential to alert the nation and young generation.”

Before proceeding to Andawa to dedicate to the nation various development projects to clean the Ganges and ghats before the Kumbh Mela, Modi also visited the ‘Akshayavat’ in Prayagraj. Further, Modi said that the devotees would be able to offer prayers at Akhsay Vat during Ardha Kumbh.

Further, PM announced,

“I am here to give you a good news. This time, devotees will be able to visit Akshay Vat in Ardha Kumbh. It was confined in Akshay Vat Fort for generations, but this time every devotee visiting the place will be fortunate to visit Akshay Vat.”

After that, to inaugurate the new terminal building of the airport, Modi left for Bamrauli Airport, Prayagraj.

After addressing a public gathering in Raebareli, PM inaugurated a Command and Control Centre for the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. Also, he performed Ganga Pujan at Sangam ghat in the holy city.

Moreover, PM Modi laid the foundation stone of some projects and inaugurated few others worth Rs 1,100 crore. Also, he flagged off the 900th coach and Humsafar rake made by the Modern Coach Factory there.

Modi said,

“The Centre is committed to the development of Raebareli. Earlier governments neglected it.”

Rafale Deal Verdict Supreme Court Gives Clean Chit to the Modi Government

Rafale Deal Verdict: Supreme Court Gives Clean Chit to the Modi Government

NEW DELHI: On Friday, the Modi government marked a big victory in the apex court of India ‘Supreme Court’ on the Rafale deal. The SC gave a clean chit to the government on the procurement of 36 Rafale fighter jets from France.

The Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi announced,

“There is no suspicion in Rafale deal.”

The SC said that there wasn’t any doubt during the decision-making process on the multi-billion dollar Rafale deal. The bench headed by Gogoi said that the country needs fighter aircraft and cannot do without them.

Also, the apex court said it’s not the court’s duty to deal with the comparative details of the pricing. Moreover, it said that there was no substantial reason to intervene in the procurement process, pricing and offset partner of the fighter jets.

On the other hand, Modi government had faced recent defeats from Opposition in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh. Both MP and Chhattisgarh were under the rule of BJP for fifteen years, while Rajasthan was for five years. As per the voting trend in the three states, the BJP may lose 32 seats if the same polling pattern repeats in the Lok Sabha election.

At the time of campaign in assembly elections, Congress President Rahul Gandhi made a frontal attack on BJP. Gandhi called the India-France defense deal Rs. 58,000 crore scam, accusing PM Modi of corruption.

Rafale Deal Verdict

Referring to Modi’s poll campaigns before 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Gandhi in his election speeches said,

“Chowkidaar chor hai [the guard is a thief].”

After that, Modi had then made corruption allegations against the Congress-led UPA government his poll plank making a promise that he would act as a PM but as a chowkidar (guard) ensuring corruption-free governance in his government.

Rafale Deal disgraced the NDA government as well as the personal image of PM Narendra Modi. Furthermore, Gandhi had accused him of signing the Rafale deal for benefitting businessman Anil Ambani whose Reliance Defence bagged a part of the off-set deal with the maker of Rafale fighter jet Dassault Aviation.

PM Modi and the BJP’s stand on the anti-corruption plank was being replaced by a different political narrative according to which the Modi government was not working against corruption but was itself involved in corruption.

Rafale Deal

However, the Supreme Court’s verdict has given the BJP and PM Modi a strong sense of relief and boost to counter and put a stop at the Opposition’s false allegations.

As a fact, Rafale deal’s initial negotiation with France took place during the UPA government, but the deal could not go further. When the BJP-led NDA government came into power, PM Modi facilitated the process at the highest level with the French government, and the deal was signed in 2016.

So since the time deal reached finalization stage for buying 36 Rafale fighter jets, the Congress has been calling the deal a scam. Moreover, Congress even launched a massive political campaign against the Modi government forcing it to provide multiple clarifications.

The SC declared the judgment on a batch of pleas by politicians, lawyers, and activists who sought a court-monitored probe into the deal earlier this year. These included Yashwant Sinha, Vineet Dhanda, ML Sharma, Prashant Bhushan, and Arun Shourie. The SC then asked Modi government to provide details regarding the decision-making process for Rafale deal in a sealed envelope. After scrutinizing the government’s response, the apex court reserved the decision and dismissed the filed petitions on Friday, Nov 14.

PM Congratulates Congress & Says Victory and Defeat are Part of Life

PM Modi took to Twitter to congratulate opposition parties with a series of tweets after election result declared on Tuesday, December 11. Congress received huge victory in Madhya Pradesh with 63 seats, in Chhattisgarh with 33 seats, and in Rajasthan with 95 seats.

He wrote,

Further, Rahul Gandhi, Congress President, while addressing media and celebrating his party’s best performance in state elections had attacked PM Modi, accusing him of arrogance.

He said,

“This is a clear message to the prime minister and the BJP that the country is not happy with what they are doing.”
