PM Unveils Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya’s Statue, Attends Programs in UP

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the statue of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya and took part in different programs organized in Kashi (also known as Varanasi) during his visit to the state of Uttar Pradesh. At a program there, he said that the government would continue to make decisions that help achieve the goal of making India a 5-trillion dollar economy. He added that facilitating and encouraging traditional handicrafts workers, artisans, and MSME would contribute to the goal.

PM Modi attended a program ‘Kashi Ek Roop Anek’ organized at the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Trade Facilitation Center, Bada Lalpur, at Varanasi. Also, he visited an exhibition comprising the different products made by the weavers and handicraftsmen from Kashi and other UP districts. He not only examined the stalls of different crafts like Handloom, Pink Meenakari, Wooden Toys, Chandauli Black Rice, Kannauj’s Perfume, Moradabad’s Metal Crafts, Agra Leather Shoes, Lucknow’s Chikankari, and Azamgarh Black Pottery under the One District One Product but also interacted with artisans and craftsmen. He even gave kits and financial assistance to them.

Further, the PM went on to appreciate the state government for its many initiatives towards the creation of more opportunities for Indian products in the global market and offering essentials like machines, credit, and loans to the weavers and handicraftsmen under various schemes. He also stated that because of the UP Government’s programs like One District One Product, the exports from UP are steadily growing over the past two years. He said that India would benefit from the products in the state, reaching abroad and the global online market.

The PM said that every district in India could be identified with some unique art and products like several varieties of silk, spices, and more. He added that it is the major inspiration behind initiatives like Make in India and One District One Product.

Moreover, he said that over 3500 artisans weavers from 30 districts received support from the UP Institute of Design (UPID) in the past two years. The toolkits were also given to more than 1000 workers. He also praised the UPID’s efforts for supporting weavers, artisans, handicraftsmen, etc.

Furthermore, PM Modi emphasized the need for refining, enhancing the product quality made in India based on the demands of the 21st century. He added that it is important to offer institutional support, financial assistance, the latest technology, and marketing to our traditional industries. He also said that for the last five years, we are making efforts towards this and are moving forward with a novel approach focused on empowering every individual in India.

Then he mentioned different measures adopted to aid industries and wealth creators and said that this year’s Union Budget gives an ultimate push to the manufacturing sector and Ease of Doing Business. He said that National Technical Textile Mission is proposed, allocating Rs. 1500 crores. He said that provision of Rs. 3700 crore is also made for the Defense Corridor in UP, which would benefit the small industries and also create new employment opportunities.

About the GEM (Government e-Marketplace), PM Modi said that it made it facilitated small enterprises in selling goods to the government. He said that creating a Unified Procurement System would further allow the government to get goods and services from small industries on one platform.

The PM further said that the National logistics policy is being prepared for the first time in India, which would create single window e-logistics and make small scale industries more competitive and also helping in employment generation. On a concluding note, he urged all to make efforts to build our country into a manufacturing powerhouse.

Later, he tweeted about the program-

“The programme ‘Kashi Ek Roop Anek’ brilliantly showcased the success of the Uttar Pradesh Government’s One District One Product initiative. This effort will go a long way in furthering prosperity in the lives of many, particularly those associated with the MSME sector.”

Also, he paid a visit to Jangamwadi Math in Kashi and tweeted pictures-

“Blessed morning at the Jangamwadi Math in Kashi.”

He launched the book Shri Siddhantha Shikhamani and mobile app and tweeted-

“Released the Shri Siddhantha Shikhamani in 19 languages and also a Mobile App that will further connect this sacred text to several devotees. These are great efforts to further popularise our rich culture.”

He even inaugurated the statue of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya and shared pictures-

“Inaugurated an iconic statue of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Ji in Kashi.”
