PM Thanks Opposition for Supporting Legislation in Passing of J&K Bills

New Delhi: On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked the lawmakers in both the Houses of Parliament (Lower House and Upper House) for passing two important bills on Jammu and Kashmir. Also, he praised the Home Minister Amit Shah for delivering “comprehensive and insightful” speeches regarding the same.

PM Modi tweeted-

“Both Houses of Parliament unanimously passed two important bills pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir. These bills were passed after rich debates, enriched by participation of MPs across party lines.

I thank all parties for their support.

Such bipartisan support is gladdening.”

Amit Shah had tabled legislation to extend President’s Rule in Jammu and Kashmir state as well as presented the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill in the Rajya Sabha. During his speech, he talked on different topics, including the strategy of the government to take on separatists and the efforts to make sure there is inclusive development in J&K.

Eventually, both bills were passed, getting support from opposition like Biju Janata Dal and the Samajwadi Party. In another tweet, PM Modi thanked the lawmakers for facilitating Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill and making it a law. The legislation aims to provide quota benefits in jobs and education to people who live near the international border of the state.

The Prime Minister said-

“Passage of Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill ensures justice for those living in the border areas of Kathua, Samba & Jammu districts.

The aspirations of the bright and talented youth of these areas will be fulfilled, which is wonderful for the state and our nation.”

PM Modi praised Shah for his speeches in the Parliament, saying that people seeking “clearer understanding of the Kashmir issue must hear his speeches.” He tweeted-

Shah, in response to PM’s tweet, he thanked PM Modi for his “kind words.” The Home Minister tweeted-

“Thank you honorable Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji for your kind words.

Your vision and leadership is a guiding force that motivates us to do better, every time.”

Shah said in another tweet that Modi government has “left no stone unturned” for J&K’s peace, prosperity, and development. It further strengthens the govt’s resolve to ensure the state’s progress.

“Today is an important day for Parliament as two bills related to the state of JnK have been unanimously passed in both the Houses.

Modi govt has left no stone unturned for peace, prosperity and development of JnK. This further strengthens our resolve to ensure JnK’s progress.”

Further, Shah tweeted to thank the opposition for lending support to these crucial bills. Calling it a historic day, he congratulated PM Modi and said that we would soon “see a peaceful and progressive” J&K. He tweeted-

“I thank all the parties for supporting these important bills.

This yet again reiterates trust in PM Modi’s leadership & vision.

I congratulate PM @narendramodi on this historic day and I am sure under his leadership we will soon see a peaceful and progressive Jammu & Kashmir.”

Also, during his Rajya Sabha speech, Shah accused successive Congress governments of their ignorance towards the plight of Jammu and Kashmir since Independence. He further said that the Modi government started the process of developing the state and bringing the people of this into the mainstream.
