PM Narendra Modi Addresses Dussehra Event in Dwarka Area of Delhi

On Tuesday, the entire nation celebrated the triumph of good over evil on the pious occasion of Dussehra or Vijayadashami. The festival of Dussehra marks the victory of Lord Rama over the demon king Ravan in the epic ‘Ramayana’ of Hindu mythology.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and addressed a Dussehra celebration event, organized by Dwarka Sri Ram Leela Society, at Ram Leela Maidan (DDA ground) in Dwarka Sector 10 in Delhi. Delhi BJP Chief Manoj Tiwari and West Delhi MP Parvesh Sahib Singh welcomed him at the event venue, and he was given a copy of the holy book Ramcharitmanas.

While addressing there, he urged the people to celebrate the girl child as he had mentioned in his recent Mann ki Baat of September month. He said-

“Lakshmi in our house. In Mann ki Baat, I had said Lakshmi is in house, our area… our daughters are manifestations of Lakshmi.”

The “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” (Save the girl child, educate her) is one of the key programs of the Modi government. He further said-

“On this Diwali, all daughters should be worshipped and respected… Continuing with spirit of Navratra, let us work towards furthering empowerment and dignity of women.”

During the address, he said-

“Our festivals are educational… we can change us when required… because in our society, we have people fighting against evil”.

Also, he added that it is important to fight the evil that lies within us.

Further, in his speech, the PM drew a relation of Lord Hanuman with the Indian Air Force and talked about the 87th anniversary of the Indian Air Force. He said-

“Today is Vijay Deshami, and along with this, it is also the birthday of the Air Force. Today, the Air Force is touching new heights.”

Also, he said,

“When we remember Lord Hanuman, let’s remember Air Force. And we must remember the brave of the Air Force. We must pray for their well being.”

Lord Hanuman, a passionate devotee of Lord Rama, is known as the son of the wind-god Pawan and his supernatural ability to fly. This reference came in as the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh yesterday performed the ‘Shastra Pooja’ in France after India received the first set of Rafale fighter jets.

Also, PM Modi applied a ’tilak’ on the stage artists, including those who played the roles of Rama, Sita, and other characters. Then, he used a bow and arrow to symbolically begin the ritualistic burning of the 107-feet-tall effigy of demon king Ravana and Kumbhakarna and Meghanada.

He shared a video and tweeted-

“May the blessings of Prabhu Shri Ram always remain upon us.

May the power of truth, goodness and compassion always prevail.

May evil be eliminated.

Jai Shri Ram! 🙏🏼”

Also, PM Modi shared glimpses of the event on his official Twitter handle. Check them out here:
