On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Republic TV Summit, having this year’s theme ‘India’s Moment Nation First,’ as a keynote speaker. On this occasion, PM Modi said that ‘From Nation wants to know,’ India has been transformed into ‘Nation First.’ He added that issues that remained unsolved for decades have now been solved. It happened because of two reasons: 130 Crore people’s thinking that India’s Moment and Nation First.
Mentioning the scrapping of Article 370 and 35-A in Jammu and Kashmir, PM said that the country got rid of a major reason behind terrorism. He added that this decision, which granted special status to J&K, was a temporary provision in the Constitution, but because of some families, it was considered permanent.
The PM stressed that when the nation is first, it takes great decisions. And when the country accepts that decision, it heads on the path of progress. Further, he said that people went to the Supreme Court so that Aadhaar could not get legal recognition. They made all the possible efforts to misrepresent Aadhaar. However, Aadhaar helped greatly in bringing out the truth. It helped save nearly Rs 1.5 lakh crores from going into the wrong hands. He added that each year, roughly this much amount went into the wrong hands, and nobody could stop it. Our govt at the Centre worked to stop this tremendous leakage of the system as the nation comes first for us.
Then, PM Modi said that GST could never have come into implementation in our nation earlier. As of today, 99% of the tasks related to ordinary citizens have been imposed half the tax of what they were before GST. The tax on things like refrigerators, mixers, juicers, vacuum cleaners, geysers, mobile phones, washing machines, and watches was over 31%, but it is only 10-12% today.
Regarding the regularization of illegal colonies in Delhi, PM Modi said that a lot of uncertainty existed in the lives of millions of families for decades. The people would buy houses in the national capital using their hard-earned money, but still, could not own them fully. Our govt at the Centre decided to put an end it, and now, over 50 lakh Delhi people got the hope and confidence of owning their home and leading a better life. It would prove beneficial for our middle class and help in realizing their dreams.
Also, the PM stressed that the speed and scale in India are unprecedented today. The toilet facilities are offered to more than 60 crore Indians in five years. These types of plans and programs could be planned and executed only when the nation is first.
Further, PM Modi said that it was the spirit of Nation First that led to the opening of over 37 crore bank accounts to connect the poor with the banking system. It was this thinking of the Nation First that initiated the water life mission. In the time to come, nearly Rs.3.5 lakh crore is expected to be spent on this mission so that the people in remote areas of India could get access to clean drinking water.
Moreover, the PM said that the nation is on a mission to make the country a $5 trillion economy to increase people’s income. He added that he believed that by working with the spirit of Nation First, we would achieve the right result of every decision, and the nation would reach every goal. He hoped that in this spirit, there would be a comprehensive discussion on the new possibilities, new opportunities of new India.
