PM Modi Unveils Multiple Development Projects in Karnataka

Karnataka: After reaching Hubbali airport from Tiruppur in Tamil Nadu via a special IAF aircraft, Revenue Minister RV Deshpande, officials as well as state Bharatiya Janata Party unit leaders received Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Later, PM dedicated many development projects to the twin cities Dharwad and Hubbali in Karnataka.

When KLE Institutions arrived the city’s suburbs, PM Modi first went on to lay the foundation of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-Dharwad) campus and the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT).

Soon after that, he flagged off the city distribution project at Dharwad and 1.5 million tonnes Mangaluru and the 2.5 million tonnes Padur strategic petroleum reserve facility (SPR) facility of the Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Ltd (ISPRL).

PM also committed the doubling of Chikjajur-Mayakonda section railway line spanning 18 km for passenger and freight services and ushered in the electrification work of the Hospeta-Hubballi-Vasco da Gama line of 346 km length in this area.

The doubling would result in increased capacity of this important route connecting Bengaluru to Mumbai via Goa, Hubballi, Belagavi, and Pune. Moreover, the electrification of the broad gauge would help in reducing traveling time and emission of greenhouse gases due to lowered diesel consumption.

PM Modi was also present at the e-griha pravesh (house-warming) of 2,384 houses that have been constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana at Dharwad.

Apart from Deshpande, Union Minister DV Sadananda Gowda, BJP’s state unit leaders Jagdish Shettar, BS Yeddyurappa, Prahlad Joshi, and Muralidhar Rai were also in attendance at the public function.

The Chairperson of Infosys Foundation Sudha Murthy who also hails from Hubbali was also present at the event.

He further tweeted,

“The people of India trust BJP.

Our track record shows we can eliminate corruption and end the culture of middlemen roaming the corridors of power.”
