PM Modi in Ranchi: Addresses a Rally, Launches Development Projects

Jharkhand: On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Jharkhand for a day and addressed a rally in Ranchi. Also, he inaugurated a multi-modal terminal at Sahibganj and the new Jharkhand Assembly building.

At the rally, PM Modi said that the Central government took various steps in the first 100 days to combat corruption and terrorism and boost development. Further, he said that Jharkhand is the launch pad of great schemes that are beneficial for the poor and the tribals. He said-

“We pledge to rein in corruption, fight for the rights of Muslim sisters and root out terrorism. Some corrupt people have already been put in their place (jail).”

Moreover, PM Modi dedicated an ambitious pension scheme ‘Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana’ for the farmers of the country. Under the scheme, the farmers between 18 to 40 years of age would get Rs 3,000 pension per month when they turn 60 years old. He tweeted-

“Fulfilling promises, furthering people’s aspirations.

In Ranchi, launched Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maan-Dhan Yojana and the scheme providing pension cover to small traders.

These schemes will serve as strong pillars of support for those who did not have pension coverage till now.”

Also, PM unveiled the Pradhan Mantri Laghu Vyaparik Maan Dhan Yojana (shopkeepers and retail traders with less than 1.5 crore turnover per year) and Swarojgar pension schemes (self-employed individuals) under which beneficiaries of 18-40 years of age would get Rs 3,000 monthly after completing 60 years of age.

Regarding the recent ‘historic’ judgments to scrap Article 370 and 35A in Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcate the state into two union territories. He said,

“We aim to bring about development in J&K and Ladakh, the work for which has begun in the first 100 days of NDA 2.0.”

At Kute gram, PM Modi launched a newly constructed three-story building of the Jharkhand Assembly, built at an estimated cost of Rs 465 crore. He wrote in a tweet-

“At the newly inaugurated Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha complex, interacted with MLAs of the state.

May this Vidhan Sabha complex serve as an important centre of realising people’s dreams.

I hope more youngsters from across Jharkhand come to visit this complex in the times to come.”

Further, PM Modi inaugurated the multi-modal cargo terminal online that is constructed by the Inland Waterways Authority of India on the Ganga river at Sahibganj. It has a stockyard, cargo storing capacity of 30 lakh tons per year, and parking and berthing space for the two vessels.

The PM laid the foundation stone online for 462 Eklavya Model Schools all over the country, out of which 69 would be established in 13 districts of Jharkhand. He also laid the foundation stone for a new secretariat building of the state, which has an estimated budget of Rs 1238.92 crores.

This visit of PM Modi to Jharkhand comes ahead of the schedule announcement for the Assembly Elections 2019. The state will hold polls during October-November.
