Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Thursday, 19th July 2018, interacted with the people of the villages which were electrified in last four years post-2014. The interaction took place through video conferencing with the help of NaMo app which included the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojna “Saubhagya Scheme”. It was launched on September 25, 2017, by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He also took a dig at the previous government which was led by UPA under the leadership of Congress. He said that the previous government had promised to electrify all households by 2009 but had failed to keep up with it.
PM Modi said,
“In 2005, the then Government promised to electrify every village by 2009. The then President of the ruling party went a step ahead and said we will bring electricity to every home. Needless to say, none of that happened during their long tenure.”
He also said that the government believes in working for the people without looking for any political benefits.
“People never thought electricity will reach their villages. I am happy to be a part of this change.”, he added.
