New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not only emerged as an inspiration in the political world but also appealed to the masses for his health- and fitness-based initiatives, government schemes, yoga videos, and meditation images.
According to a recently released list by the wearable technology company GOQii on Tuesday, PM once again topped the list as the most influential personality in the health sector consecutively for the second time. Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar came at the second position, whereas yoga guru is at the third spot.
The ‘Top 30 Health Influencers for 2019’ report also comprises big names such as Tiger Shroff, Ranveer Singh, Former Team India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Kareena Kapoor, and Priyanka Chopra among the top 10. The other prominent personalities on the list are Team India skipper Virat Kohli and Deepika Padukone.
The GOQii Founder and CEO Vishal Gondal stated that PM Modi set an example by keeping himself fit in spite of his hectic schedule. And, PM’s activities influence a huge part of the Indian population who follow PM Modi over the social media.
As per the report,
“Modi was instrumental in instituting the International Day of Yoga 2015, which is now observed globally. He is not only keen on improving India but keen on improving the health and fitness of Indians as well. Despite all the tasks at hand, the 68-year-old still manages to stay fit.”
Akshay Kumar, who had a candid non-political chat with PM Modi about his life ahead of the General Elections 2019, has been creating awareness about physical fitness. One of India’s fittest stars who came second on the list, Akshay Kumar is a trained martial artist and also has a black belt in Taekwondo.
The report stated,
“Even with his hectic life, Akshay Kumar manages to maintain his work-out regime, occasionally adding new exercises to avoid boredom. He believes that one should devote their body to exercise for one hour in order to be fit.”
Baba Ramdev, who secured the third spot in the list, is widely known as the Indian yoga guru. Moreover, he is the Co-Founder of Patanjali Ayurved, an Indian consumer goods company.
Also, the report mentioned,
“Ramdev’s brand (Patanjali) is now a popular name in India and is giving MNC FMCG companies a run for their money. As of May 19, his company is the third-largest FMCG company in India.”
The top 30 health influencers chosen from a list of 100 were assessed based on their number of followers across all social media platforms. Also, they were assessed on the count of their Google News mentions and how much does each of their careers focus on fitness and health. This data was obtained during the January-March period.
