On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the ‘AatmaNirbhar Uttar Pradesh Rojgar Abhiyan’ via a video conference. This campaign aims to promote local entrepreneurship and offer employment opportunities to the migrant workers.
During the virtual conference, the PM said that we all need to overcome the hardships faced due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He emphasized that keeping Do Gaj ki Doori & covering the face with the mask are the best precautions until a cure or vaccine is found.
He further showed satisfaction that the Uttar Pradesh state turned the crisis into an opportunity for the way people got involved in this pandemic. The PM added that this campaign would inspire other states also.
PM Modi praised the bravery of the UP govt for how it successfully tackled the situation due to COVID-19. He also applauded the Coronavirus warriors working in the UP. He even commended the UP govt for its efforts toward bringing back the migrant labor by facilitating hundreds of Shramik Express Trains.
Moreover, he acknowledged the unprecedented work of the UP govt to ensure no poor person is hungry. Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, he said that it actively provided free rations to the poor & migrant laborers. He added that nearly 5 thousand crore rupees were also directly transferred to the Jan Dhan account of 75 Lakh poor women of the state.
Furthermore, the PM said that the UP is taking the lead in the campaign of making India self-reliant. He added that under the Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyan, efforts are going on in villages to increase the workers’ income. He also said nearly 60 lakh people employed in MSMEs under the rural development-related schemes. Besides, about Rs. 10,000 crore is allotted under the Mudra Yojana to offer self-employment to thousands in the state.
He further stated that under AatmaNirbhar Rojgar Abhiyan, the industries in the UP would benefit, promoting the local products. He mentioned the recently declared reform in agriculture to enable farmers to sell their agri-produce all across India.
Additionally, PM Modi said that in only three years, over 30 lakh pucca houses are constructed for the poor & the state was declared open defecation-free & government jobs were given to 3 lakh youth.
Also, he mentioned the steps government took to reduce the infant mortality rate in the state & 90% reduction of Encephalitis cases in the Purvanchal region in the past three years. He added that the state also witnessed unprecedented improvement in basic infrastructure.
The PM also interacted with various beneficiaries and stakeholders across the UP state.

Besides, PM Modi participated in the 90th birth anniversary celebration of Dr. Joseph Mar Thoma Metropolitan today morning. He said-
