PM Modi Tops the List of Most Followed World Leaders on Instagram

When it comes to social media, Prime Minister Narendra Modi rules there also. Yes, you’ve heard right, PM Modi hits the first spot in the list of the most followed world leaders on Instagram. He has around 15.5 million Instagram followers.

In the same list, Indonesian President Joko Widodo is at the second position, and US President Donald Trump is at third. Apart from them, Queen Rania of Jordan, Pope Francis, and the Royal Family of the UK are some of the other Instagram accounts which come under the list of the ten most followed world leaders.

Also, he is the most “effective” world leader on Instagram, with every one of his 239 posts and videos from this year earning 873,302 interactions.

Moreover, the photo he posted with Virat Kohli & Anushka Sharma after their wedding falls under the most liked photo posted by a world leader this year. The study noted,

“Not surprisingly, the picture has received 1,859,134 likes since all three [Modi, Sharma, and Kohli] have a combined following of 55 million on Instagram.”

Not only the first most liked photo, but the second most liked photo of a world leader also belongs to PM Modi. It is the one where he was standing at a bus stop in a picturesque snowy Davos, while he attended the World Economic Forum 2018. And, it got 1,859,135 likes.

About the photo, the study said,

“The unusual shot illustrates that pictures which are out of the ordinary do tend to get the best engagement on the platform.”

All this data mentioned above is according to the Twiplomacy study 2018 which is conducted by an international public relations and communications firm, Burson-Marsteller.

This is all about Instagram, but the Prime Minister is also very much active on Twitter as well as Facebook. His Twitter account has 44.6 million followers, and the Facebook account has more than 40 million likes. Therefore, we can say he is one of the most popular global leaders on social media platforms. Undoubtedly, he has a tech-savvy reputation.

Moreover, PM Modi launched NaMo app in 2015 to give his followers all the latest information on his day-to-day activities.
