PM Modi Attends the ‘At Home Reception’ on 72nd Army Day

Yesterday on occasion of Army Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and India’s first Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat attended the At-Home Reception ceremony at the residence of the Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane.

Earlier, the leaders wished the brave men and women of the Indian Army, veterans, and their families on this special day. Also, the CDS General Rawat, Army Chief General Naravane, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria, and Navy Chief Admiral Karambir Singh paid their tributes at the National War Memorial in Delhi.

PM Modi tweeted in Hindi on his official handle and wished the Indian army on Army Day 2020-

“भारत की सेना मां भारती की आन-बान और शान है। सेना दिवस के अवसर पर मैं देश के सभी सैनिकों के अदम्य साहस, शौर्य और पराक्रम को सलाम करता हूं।”

In English, the above tweet translates to this-

“The army of India is the pride of Mother Bharati. On the occasion of Army Day, I salute the indomitable courage and valor of all the soldiers of the country.”

Moreover, PM Modi quoted a tweet by Chinar Corps and praised the valor, professionalism, and humanitarian spirit of the Indian Army-

“Our Army is known for its valour and professionalism. It is also respected for its humanitarian spirit. Whenever people have needed help, our Army has risen to the occasion and done everything possible!

Proud of our Army.

I pray for the good health of Shamima and her child.”

Chinar Corps, Indian Army had tweeted a video of Army persons and civilians carrying an expecting mother, Mrs. Shamima, on a stretcher during heavy snowfall-

“#HumsaayaHainHum 🇮🇳🍁
During heavy snowfall, an expecting mother Mrs Shamima, required emergency hospitalisation. For 4 hours over 100 Army persons & 30 civilians walked with her on stretcher through heavy snow. Baby born in hospital, both mother & child doing fine. #VRWithU4U”

After attending the ‘At Home’ reception, the PM shared pictures and wrote in a tweet-

“Today, on Army Day, attended the ‘At Home’ reception hosted by the Chief of Army Staff.”

The President, Ram Nath Kovind, also extended greetings to the brave army persons, veterans, and their families on the day-

“On Army Day, greetings to the valiant men and women of the Indian Army, to veterans and to their families. You are our nation’s pride, the sentinels of our liberty. Your immense sacrifice has secured our sovereignty, brought glory to our nation and protected our people. Jai Hind!”

The Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, also shared pictures and wrote in a tweet-

“Attended the ‘At Home’ reception hosted by the Chief of Army Staff, General Manoj Mukund Naravane on the occasion of Army Day.”

Every year, Army Day is observed on 15 January since the year 1949. On this day back in 1949, Field Marshal Kodandera M Cariappa became the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army. The day is celebrated to recognize this and salute the valiant soldiers of the nation.
