PM Meets “Exceptional” Man Who Cycled 1170kms to Celebrate BJP’s Win

New Delhi: On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the “exceptional” man Khimchand Chandrani from Amreli, a district in his home state Gujarat. Chandrani had decided that if the BJP wins over 300 seats the General Elections 2019, he would from his home town Amreli to Delhi, the national capital.

Hence, keeping his word, Chandrani successfully traveled the distance of 1100 km in 17 days on cycle after BJP’s landslide victory with 303 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections.

Amreli district is nearly 100kms away from Rajkot, a city in Gujarat.

PM Modi posted a tweet on his official handle along with four photos. One photo was of the interaction, and the other three photos were of Chandrani’s Amreli-Delhi journey. PM tweeted-

“Met the exceptional Khimchandbhai from Amreli, Gujarat.

Khimchandbhai decided that if BJP wins 300+ seats, he would cycle from Amreli to Delhi. He kept his word and am told that his cycle journey has drawn several admirers.

I was deeply impressed by his humility and passion.”

If you look closely at the pictures from Chandrani’s long journey, then you would notice him wearing a red tilak on his forehead as he stands beside his bicycle in one of them. In the other two pictures, he is somewhere on his way to the capital city from hometown. And the most interesting part is that the cycle is decorated with photos of PM Modi and has slogans in Hindi- “Modi hai to mumkin hai” and “Ab ki baar huye 300 paar.”

After interacting with the Prime Minister, Chandrani said-

“I took an oath before the Lok Sabha elections that if BJP wins more than 300 seats in the elections, I will travel all the way from Amreli to Delhi on my bicycle and meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to congratulate them for their triumph.”

Talking about his difficult journey, he said,

“It took me almost 17 days to cover 1170 kms, I used to cover almost 70-80 kms on a daily basis. I used to stay in temples and ashrams on my way. I had a conversation with the PM for hardly five minutes, he told me that I am very brave to cover such expedition all the way from Amreli.”
