Navy Day: PM Modi and Other Leaders Pay Tribute to the Naval Force

Every year on December 4, Navy Day is celebrated annually to honor the maritime operations by the Navy throughout the 1971 Indo-Pak war. And, it also celebrates maritime operations to safeguard the marine borders of the country, calamity relief as well as joint exercises.

The Indian Navy was founded on 5 September 1612. It is the marine branch of the Indian Armed Forces which is headed by the President of India as Commander-in-Chief. Moreover, Shivaji Bhosle is considered as the ‘Father of the Indian Navy’ because the Marathas established a naval force at the time of the inception of the Maratha Emperor, Chhatrapati Shivaji Bhosle.

On account of Navy Day, many leaders paid tributes to the “guardians of the sea” with their heartfelt tweets. Among all President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were the firsts on Twitter to pay their tributes to the naval force.

President Ram Nath Kovind wrote, “On Navy Day, my good wishes to all men and women of the Indian Navy. Nation is proud of your commitment to protecting our maritime frontiers, securing our trade routes, and providing assistance in times of humanitarian emergencies #PresidentKovind”.

And, at first PM Modi tweeted, “On Navy Day, greetings to all Navy personnel and their families.”

Then he wrote, “Navy Day greetings to all valorous personnel of the Indian Navy and their families. India is grateful to our Navy for protecting the nation and the commendable role the Navy plays during disaster relief.”

Moreover, Union Minister Piyush Goyal wrote, “I salute our Navy personnel for the impregnable spirit, devotion with which they serve & protect our Motherland.”

Punjab Chief Minister tweeted, “Navy Day is celebrated to honour the victorious, martyrs and veterans of the Indian Navy. This day also serves as a reminder to our enemies, of our strength and valour when the hour beckons. My best wishes to all ranks of the Indian Navy. Jai Hind.”

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Navy Day tweeted, “Saluting the Indian Navy for its valor and glorious victories at the sea. The nation is proud of the Navy for guarding our coasts to ensure our safety and harmony.”

Also, Army Chief Bipin Rawat and All Ranks Indian Army conveyed their best wishes.

Apart from all, the Indian Navy’s official Twitter handle also revealed some pictures on occasion.

Moreover, in the celebration, the Navy exhibit an impressive show of skill amid a sea of colors at the Gateway of India, Mumbai. Meanwhile, a Navy helicopter levitates slowly over the monument and also lit in the colors of the national flag. During that, soldiers in white uniform marched below in a rehearsal of the Beating of the Retreat ceremony. Many people turned up near the south Mumbai monument to enjoy the site rehearsal.
